Dorien Borms is a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences (Physiotherapy) at Ghent University, Belgium. She completed her doctoral research in 2019 at Ghent University, focusing on the assessment and rehabilitation of overhead athletes. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dorien has over 10 years of teaching experience and is passionate about providing evidence-based education to healthcare professionals and students. During her PhD and the early years of her postdoctoral position, she also worked as a physical therapist in a private practice specializing in the rehabilitation of shoulder pathologies. This dual role of research, teaching, and clinical work has shaped her perspective on shoulder pathologies, ensuring it is both evidence-based and clinically realistic. She is a board member and member of the scientific committee of the Shoulder Network Flanders (Belgium), a non-profit organization that connects physical therapists in Flanders with a special interest in shoulder rehabilitation.
